How Testing With Us Works

1. We send you a test kit in the mail, complete with instructions for collecting your DNA sample. Most test kits simply require a cheek swab (a cotton swab run along the inside of your cheek).
2. You complete the test kit and send it directly to our testing lab.
3. We notify you by email when test results are ready. You log-on to your secure account to view your Personalized Report.

What Free Testing Advice Includes 

We answer all questions about how the testing process works over the phone or by email for free. For questions related to your personal risk or medical issues, you will need to Schedule a Consultation. Free questions include:

• What genetic testing can — and cannot — do
• What testing costs
• How to order a test
• What testing tells you
• What to do if a test you are interested in is not listed
• What you can expect in both pre- and post-test consultations

Questions That Require a Paid Consultation

If you need to contact us about your medical questions, board-certified genetic counselors are available for paid consultation sessions for $75 to $150 depending on the test. Most questions are answered in 30 minutes, but we will speak with you as long as you need. Typical questions that require consulting are: 

• Is there a genetic test that is appropriate for me?
• If I take a test, what can testing tell me?
• If I have a family history of a condition, should I take a genetic test?
• Can you help me decide if testing is right for me?

Once you complete a pre-test consultation, there is no obligation to purchase a test.
